Tips for Formal Recruitment

Are you thinking about rushing a sorority? Well, that’s exciting! Going through formal recruitment in Fall 2022 was scary and exciting, but I am so thankful I went through it.

I have met so many amazing people, both through formal recruitment and from being in Theta. My sisters have greatly shaped my experience in a way that they do not know, and I hope you all will meet sisters who will do the same for you!

Now, here are some important tips for formal recruitment that I wish I had known before going through it!

1. ALWAYS be yourself! Being yourself and staying true to who you are and your interests will help you go a long way.

2. Pick out your outfits the night before, but make sure you add a small touch of you to show off your personality!

3. Pack a bag with snacks and water so you are not starving and do not get dehydrated! Formal recruitment days are long, and you will be doing lots of walking especially on day 1!

4. Go through recruitment with an open mind. Each sorority has something unique to offer; the more open-minded you are, the more excited you will be!

5. Wear comfortable shoes! You will be walking a lot, so make sure you wear comfortable but stylish shoes that you can walk in for 5+ hours.

6. Get to know the girls in your Rho Gamma group. Some of these girls may end up in the same sorority as you and will be your sisters, and others may end up in a different sorority than you. You will create forever-lasting friendships with these girls, and you can reach out to them whenever and hang out with them anytime. #panhellove

7. Trust your instincts. Make sure to listen to your gut when deciding which sorority you want to be in. Do not pick your sorority based on what your friends are picking, as it won’t end up being the best fit for you. <3

8. Ask questions. Don’t be afraid to ask questions during recruitment, whether it be to your Rho Gamma’s or when visiting a sorority house! All the girls are there to help and answer any questions you may have!

I hope these tips are helpful for when you lovelies go through formal recruitment! Remember to stay positive and have fun.

Love,

Cate P.
